Probably I can discuss about hedgerows too long!) But still I will try to express my many years of experience and observations for the benefit of our citizens in the most concise and accessible language.

Climate. The climatic zone of Krasnodar belongs to the Prikubanskaya horticulture zone (according to the domestic nomenclature) or to 7 (center) - 6 (near the city) the horticulture zone (according to the international nomenclature).
Definition. The hedges is plantings, usually ordinary in the form of backstage or walls of living plants, designed to fence off or close one or another object with its leaves or branches.
Classification. The hedges in their appearance are shorn or free-growing. The type may be evergreen or deciduous, homogeneous or heterogeneous in composition and consist of 2 or more cultures. In their organization, the hedgeses can be single-row or double-row, sometimes multi-row variations are encountered. Yet for most people, the most common, generally accepted and traditional option is considered that hedgeses are coniferous, evergreen, shorn walls. Let's talk about them!
Choosing a landing area. Here, as I understand it, problems should not arise, because if a person understands that he needs a hedges, then he knows for sure why and where she is specifically needed. But still you need to correctly determine the distance that you need to retreat from the fence or buildings, as well as think in advance all the approaches for servicing the hedges from all sides.
Landing time. There is one simple rule: the best time for planting heavily frost-resistant plants is autumn, for weakly frost-resistant plants spring is!
Distance and quantity. To determine the amount of planting material that you need, you need to come from the distance in the row between the plants. It is clear that much depends on the range of plants, but if you do not go to extremes, then it is about 70-150 cm (from the middle of the stem to the middle of the stem of the next plant). Even possible less, it can be thicker ... The following rule applies here - the thicker, the slower the plants grow and the less we cut them, and vice versa.
Size of planting material. Here, basically, everything depends on your finances, desires and patience. There are fast-growing, there are slow-growing ... And, of course, everyone wants everything and quickly ... In vain! For the fast-growing charm lies an additional expense in the near future in the form of frequent haircuts. But planting very slow-growing is also not worth it (you can die). Fast-growing is cheap, young plants are also cheap.
The range
The yew is a typical solution, is dense strong hedges of noble dark green color. It has shade, although it grows well when it's sunnny and not bad in the shade. There is a huge number of yew berry. Yew is toxic (when eaten). The diseases and pests are rarely noticed.
Thuja is the most popular today in Russia. The plant is not used, in 90% of cases it is the "Smaragd" , although this variety is initially recommended as a single focal point for replacing the pyramidal cypress in regions with severe winters .... The thuja "Smaragd" may be seen at every gas station these days. The plant is not good for hedges. These plants have become so popular so that they even became fashionable. The plant is almost not affected by diseases and pests. The plant has a rather dense, narrow pyramidal crown shape, bright green saturated color almost all year round. In my opinion, too saturated coloring of the background of hedges is unacceptable, as well as the picket fence form. The following variety "Brabant" - the most acceptable for the creation of classic hedgeses, well interlocks. The crown shape is wide-pyramidal, without a loose form. In winter, it changes color to quiet. There are still a huge number of western thuja, they are all in one degree or another light-requiring and prefer direct sunlight most of the day.
The Folded Thuja - most loved by Europeans, but in Russia it is very rare because of the lack of demand. Although the decorative qualities superior to the west. The needles are shiny, as if polished, of a pleasant green color, growing vigorously. This type of thuja also has a huge number of varieties. The most promising and famous "Gelderland", "Martin", "Atrovirenz" - all these varieties are ideal for creating classic sheared green fence. Pests are rarely affected, sometimes fungal diseases can occur. The plant is light-requiring. The shade of needles become quite in winter.
The oriental flatlanet is the usual option for Krasnodar to plant greenery. Many think that this is thuja. Very durable plant withstanding all the hardships of urban conditions. Surprisingly, because it is durable, it has problems. Gardeners think: “what will happen to it, it's biota ...”, “will do without fertilizers, it's biota ...”, “will manage without pruning, it's biota ..”. This plant also looks like it is treated. But if you give this plant a little attention (as much as others), it will surprise any thuja with its beauty! Great for hedges, easily tolerates any pruning and needs care. The plant is almost not damaged by diseases and pests. She needs light, but she endures partial shade. It has many varieties, but mostly species grown from seeds are used for hedges. Changes the needles shade on a quieter in winter.
Lawson's cypress is one of the traditional species for hedges in America and Europe and rarely in Russia. The plant has the number of varieties and forms, has a huge variety in color and shades of needles, crown shape and growth rate, branching ... Almost all upright growing varieties are suitable for creating clipped hedges. Not all varieties are cold-resistant enough for our zone. Information on the type and zone of cold resistance can be easily found on the Internet or in catalogs. Good in our climate grow "Kolumnaris", "Aluminum", "Aluminum", "Stardust", "Ivone", "Lane". All of them are great for creating hedges with different shades of green - from silver to golden. Diseases and pests are rarely affected, retain bright colors well in the winter.
Leyland's kupressciparis is a relatively new culture for Krasnodar, but already loved by my propaganda. One of the fastest growing conifers. Excellent haircut and quickly closes, forming an excellent form during 3-4 years. By its nature, has a wide loose crown, so you can not plant so thick, but frequent haircut is required! The color of the needles is gray-green, almost does not change color for the winter. Disease and pest damage is extremely rare. In severe winters it can freeze slightly, but due to the high growth rate it is easily restored. It has many varieties, but in our conditions only 2 varieties showed themselves well. Gold Rider is a golden variety. The most frost-resistant and bright of all cupresscarpis. "Variegata" - green with splashes of milky-white fine sprays distributed evenly over all the branches.
